Old & New: Quilting Exhibition

As part of CoroAlive! 175 celebrations, Coromandel Valley Quilters staged an exhibition appropriately titled Old & New, at the Coromandel Community Centre over the weekend of 19^th and 20^th May 2012.

The oldest quilt on show was made in 1894, while the newest was completed the evening before the exhibition opened.

Oriental Magic was true to its name.

There were so many gorgeous quilts on display that the Community Centre became something of a maze.

A joint display by Ray and Lorraine Crocker created plenty of interest. Ray collects and enjoys displaying antique sewing machines while Lorraine enjoys working them into quilt designs.

A lace making demonstration captured plenty of attention.
