Event Description:

Gamble Cottage is open to visitors who have an interested in the history of Coromandel Valley and neighbouring areas that were once part of this locality.

There are lots of historic artefacts, furniture and photographs on display and volunteers are on hand to shed light on the history of the cottage and to share the National Trust's research into the district's:

  • Pioneer families (ask about the Family Name List),
  • Land division and acquisition,
  • The area's oldest buildings,

Gamble Cottage Garden is exquisite and features many old and now uncommon plant species. Maintained by a dedicated Friends group, the garden is a delight to explore and, on sunny days, to enjoy afternoon tea.

Winns Bakehouse Museum located on Winns Road, about 5 minutes from Gamble Cottage, offers an insight into the area's early commercial activities and also opens on the third Sunday of each month.
